Title: Total Newb... but...
Post by: Johnny B Evil on November 19, 2017, 02:47:52 PM
Hello,  I've had Hero Lab for years but used it for ShadowRun 4e exclusively years ago.  Is there anyone who can point me in the direction of 'fixes' or 'patches' for Hero Lab for D&D 4e content?  I remember using it years ago, or trying to, for a character (an Arcanist if memory serves) and there were items missing so I abandoned it after emailing Wolf Lair and getting the news that there isn't any new content, etc, etc.

Or point me at some info on how to use the editor?

If its covered somewhere, I missed it.

Okay, I should remember to check this forum more often. Anyway, my group has been using Hero Lab for D&D 4e for about two years now, so hopefully I can be of some help.

Yes, the 4e files are built in the Authoring Kit, and the Editor can be used to add/fix things.

It's been a while since the 4e files got much in the way of high-end support (the dreaded Real Life seems to have eaten DracusMage, as is the way of things), but I know there are a few of us out there working on them; the only problem is that there's no one to merge all the work into the "official" files.  :(

My group has done bug fixes, mostly as we have come across them, but haven't added much in the way of missing material (except for adding the Zeitgeist Player's Guide material, because that's our current 4e campaign). I know that there's still a lot of stuff that could be done, but it's working well enough for us to use.

If you would like to add our work to the latest download, I put up a zip of our changes at https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ao-luxR6zpeDiHQjodb1oeEw6FPO (no promises, we do our best ;) ). To install you just copy the files in the archive to the Hero Lab 4e user data directory, overwriting the default versions (of course, if you've already edited any of the default files, this will overwrite them as well, so be careful).

As far as Hero Lab Editor resources go, this is my link collection:
