Title: Something I'm struggling with
Post by: Cryptoknight on December 19, 2012, 10:21:07 PM
And ideas how to handle something like this?

Oracle of the Evil Eye Level 10 Feature (10th level): You gain low-light vision, or you gain darkvision if you already had low-light vision.

I keep thinking of two bootstraps.  If you don't have low-light you get it
If you have low-light you get darkvision

but I'm concerned that if you don't have either, the first will trigger and give you low-light, and the second will trigger and give you dark vision.

I'm also not sure exactly how to test to see if you have low-light anyway.

Thoughts?

I actually got a similar problem with the Sorcere Adept. You get Ritual Casting if you do not yet have it, but if you already have it you get 2 rituals instead. I currently just implemented it that it skips on the "if you already have it" part.

I was thinking about modifying the power and using User.FeatureChk and letting you pick which one you get.  That means you could take Darkvision even if you don't have it, but trusting the players to be honest.

Agreed. If you do this, could you also look at the Sorcere Adept? I am not so sure about how to do the Feature Check thing correctly (though I already used it once ^^). Thanks.

Some idea I had... What about this:

Add a "DarkVision Evil Eye" Feat which is basically the same like Dark Vision, but with the requirement added "already has lowlight vision" ?
